In May 2013, Elena and I were ready for a change. We had become comfortable with a relaxed lifestyle, and were enjoying daily home cooked meals. We had both somehow gained 20-30 lbs in the last year and a half or so.
We had talked a little about dieting and eating better, and through some of my research, I wanted to Juice... which quickly morphed into an all RAW Fruit/Veggie diet for the month. This was much easier than juicing, and much cheaper as well. This first month was a success as both of us had lost around 10 lbs each. But we needed something different... we didn't have the patience nor commitment to go Vegan.
Through watching Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition with Chris Powell, we discovered Drew Manning of Fit2Fat2Fit.com. For those unfamiliar with Drew, the quick summary is that he is a personal trainer who didn't quite understand why his clients had so much trouble with their food addictions. So he decided to stop working out for 6 months, and eat more like an average person. After 6 months, he gained an extraordinary amount of weight and was noticeably different (per picture below) . He then tried to reverse the journey to get back to his normal weight and body type in another 6 months. As you can see from the picture, he was successful.

What we did and how we did it
The beauty of his website and his diet plan, is that he has every meal pre-planned out for you for 6 months. You can print a weekly schedule for Men, and a different one for Women as well. The meals are very detailed, and the variety was impressive. This was the key to our success with this. In the past, we would get bored with our meals, but now we just ate whatever was on our meal plan. We did make some minor adjustments along the way as well such as different Protein Bars, no supplements, and some different seasonings or ingredients for some of the meals. The plans consisted of 5 small meals per day. Below is one screenshot from www.fit2fat2fit.com.
Elena and I only went through the first 10 weeks of his meal plans.... but since then, we have been able to use that basic meal plan as a guide. We still aim for 5 small meals per day.
As of October 2014, I am down 68 lbs (from 232 to 164 lbs), and Elena is down 35 lbs (from 165 to 130 lbs)!
